About Yogesh Chiplunkar – Photographer & Visual Storyteller

Yogesh Chiplunkar completed his Diploma in Applied Art from L.S. Raheja School of Art and soon began his journey in Commercial Photography. His skill and dedication quickly landed him a role at the Indian Express Group.

It was during his time at Indian Express that Yogesh discovered his passion for documentary photography. He was drawn to the way this powerful medium could capture and narrate real-life events through compelling images. Eager to learn more, he connected with fellow photographers in the publishing world and dove deeper into the craft. Though documentary photography came with its own set of challenges, Yogesh embraced them and steadily built a strong portfolio through hands-on experience and constant learning.

Later, he joined Femina magazine, one of India’s leading publications for women, where he captured striking portraits of women from all walks of life. His love for storytelling through visuals also led him to the world of cinema. He worked on film stills for several notable directors, including Leena Yadav on Teen Patti starring Amitabh Bachchan, Luv Ranjan on Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Avik Ali on De De Pyaar De, Subhash Kapoor on Madam Chief Minister featuring Richa Chadha, and Pushkar–Gayathri on Vikram Vedha starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan. His upcoming projects include Jolly LLB 3 and De De Pyaar De 2.

Yogesh was also part of a well-received group exhibition titled Trails of Holi, where three photographers explored the theme of color in different contexts. For his part, Yogesh documented the spirit of Kamathipura, Mumbai’s oldest and Asia’s second-largest red-light district, capturing the vibrancy and depth of life in this often-misunderstood space.

He is currently working on his first solo exhibition, continuing to push the boundaries of his visual storytelling.
